Church
In the year 1057 Archbishop Adalbert von Bremen consecrated the oldest church in the Ammerland, probably built from stones from the outset.
It was inaugurated by Archbishop Adalbert von Bremen in 1057, making it the oldest of its kind in Ammerland: St. John's Church in Wiefelstede. In 2013 the church and the Christian-Vater-Organ were completely restored. You shouldn't miss a guided tour. The oldest is the semicircular apse, which draws in sideways and closes the east wall. The bell tower dates from the end of the 15th century, the two bells were cast in 1503 and 1507. The winged altar was probably built in the 1520s. The pulpit and baptismal font were created in the 17th century. The church organ was completed by Christian Vater in the 18th century. The extensive offer of the parish ranges from the miniclub and the “Gospel Kids” to the adult gospel choir “Soul Inside” and adult education courses to senior citizens' work and Bible discussions.
